“You are those who justify yourselves before men,
but God knows your hearts. What is highly esteemed
among men
is an abomination in the sight of God.” Lk. 16:15
A.W. Tozer states: “ Christianity today is man-centered, not
God-centered.
God is made to wait patiently, even respectfully, on the whims of men.
The image of God currently popular is that of a distracted Father,
struggling in heartbroken desperation to get people to accept a Savior
of whom
they feel no need and in whom they have very little interest.”
2 Tim. 3:1-5, 4:3-4
warns, “In the last days there will
be very difficult times.
People
will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud,
scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful.
They
will consider nothing sacred.
They
will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others
and
have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good.
They
will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride,
and love pleasure rather than God.
They
will act religious, but they will reject the Power that could make them godly.
…A
time is coming when people will no longer listen
to sound and wholesome teaching. They
will follow their own desires and
will
look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear.
They
will reject the Truth and chase after myths.”
Tozer adds: “We
are not diplomats but prophets,
our message is not
a compromise but an illumination.”
Study Scripture. When we apply
ourselves, we discover that God’s Word is alive, relevant, and simply could not
be written by mere man (divine).
Ask this question:
Am I choosing to view God through
the lens of society or am I
choosing the more difficult, but eternally blessed route: View society through the lens
of God?
Why? Why study,
why swim upstream?
God tells us this:
“The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy.
My purpose is to give a rich and satisfying life. …Look,
I am coming soon! My reward is with Me, I will give to
each person according to what they have done…No eye has seen, no ear has
heard,
no
mind has imagined what God has prepared for
those who love Him.”
(Jn. 10:10; Rev. 22:12; Is 64:4; 2 Cor. 2:9)
It’s nearly Valentines Day, may we adore the Author of Love
in all we do this week.
